71 Firebird Formula Restoration Questions
« on: September 03, 2018, 11:30:03 AM »
I can't remove the floor shift knob (Turbo 400 trans), so am not able to remove the center consol.  How to proceed?  (see attached photo).  There's a small electrical unit mounted on the driver side firewall above the mounting of the front end and engine harnesses.  What's it called and what is its function?  (see attached photo).
Can the above mentioned wire harness be removed by pulling them out from the front of the firewall or by going under the dash where the fuse box is located?

What's the best restoration book to buy?

Would much appreciate any help and advice.

A "snap ring" holds the shift knob onto the shifter shaft. The correct tool to remove and apply snap rings is available at Harbor Freight, for only a few bucks.
